Actually, it's what was to be expected when they let the elections go on. What you see is a combination of protest votes, emotional votes, people who wanted to vote 'populist' anyway ('populist', being the term you gave to someone who you always called an extremist before he was murdered) and seven people who aren't in touch with reality ("He was shot?!").
I think most of all the people wanted drastic changes. But nobody could predict the landslide victory of the rightwing parties. Weird!
